1. DESCRIPTION:

LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS (LPG)

- ODORIZED COMMERCIAL PROPANE HD-5

2. SCOPE:

This specification defines the properties of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)-Odorized Commercial

Propane HD-5.

3. APPLICATION:

Commercial propane is a hydrocarbon product for use where high volatility is required. It is suitable for

certain low severity internal combustion engine applications. At Olympian, generators and other

equipment using combustion engines are tested using LPG, typically available in USA and Canada,

with chemical and physical properties listed below. The variations from this fuel standard can lead to

lower power output, pre-ignition, detonation and corrosion.

4.4 Allowable contents of (by volume):

Minimum of 90% Propane

Maximum of 5% Propylene

Maximum of 2.5% Butane and heavier

Remainder – other gases (methane, etc.)

4.5 Energy Density: 46.4 MJ/kg


